MAY FASHION TREND REVIEW

Global stars have been busy in this May, with the Met Gala 2015 following with Cannes, fashion icons keep shining on the red carpet and lead us to note several remarkable fashion factors of the season.

Floral motifs never fall out of trend in spring and summer season. Chiffon is a must, and with the combination of glitter, it brings the game of glamorous throne to a whole new level. Fan Bingbing flower-crowned herself from head to toe in the Cannes, with colour pedals surrounding Marchesa sweep-train dress, the image of flower fairy pop up to life. Li Bingbing gives us a modern interpretation to how Cinderella might look like if the story is set in the East. The use of baby blue colour embraces the soft side of women, giving a refreshing and pure look under the impression of orientalism. The mixture of eastern body skimmed qipao with western court train of Zuhair Murad gown displays the perfect “east meets west”example.

Some celebrities embraced the notion “less is more” in a more creative way this year, with less coverage, and more skin exposure. The sexy and ethereal gown requires careful cutting and intricate design to cover up just the right amount of skin, and exhibits the curves with feathers and sequins. Jennifer Lopez in Versace, Beyonce Knowles in custom Givenchy and Kim Kardarshian West in Roberto Cavalli should be the best representative of this trend.

Red colour symbolizes passionate, love, seduction, danger, anger, and adventure, and is associated with the figure of femme fetale. Amal Clooney in Maison Margiela gown creates an overall stunning look, where the tiers and ruffles resonances with the rose pedals which signifies romance and danger. Rita Ora in her Tom Ford gown makes her an impressive and seducing vampire. The matching of fresh-red dress with the cape-like scarf must be one of the breath-taking looks that worth noting down. Helen Mirren, our all-time elegant star add in some sexiness with her see-through design. The star is a lively prove that tempting and sophistication can both co-exist.
